The quest begins

Certainly, our first BBQ stop would be in Florida. Eau Gallie, to be exact. Justin's BBQ to be precise. This was a bit of a surprise for us. Off the beaten path of I 95, but worth finding. Mel started with his baby backs and (get this) fried corn on the cob. I had a very nice portion of smoked chicken (much leaner than our Shorty's chicken). The surprise was that Mel said the ribs were done, but still chewy and the sauce was a combination of sweet, smoky and he added a little spicy sauce to the mix.
It filled us up, so no key lime pie, but with the baked potato and cole slaw, waaaay enough.
Back in the car, and up 95.

We ended the day just north of the Florida border (in fact you can see Fernandina Beach) at St. Mary's , Georgia. A cute very little coastal town. The bed and breakfast we stayed in was called the Spencer House Inn (oh yes it was), and was a fourteen room gorgeous former hotel. Every square inch of the place was beautifully deocrated for the holidays (well, actually THE holiday---no menorahs)
